Imagine Packs are creative resources to spark joy, creativity and imagination for isolated elder audiences and vulnerable communities who were experiencing loneliness over lockdown and would otherwise not have access to digital spaces.
Together with our partners, Age UK, Accumulate, Forget Me Not Charity, and Museum of London, we have sent out 1600 physical Imagine Packs direct to people’s homes around the Barbican and Golden Lane Estates.
Culture Mile wanted to help elders feel connected and inspired through art forms that they loved and conjure up memories that brought them joy and feelings of hope.
We’re still exploring how to develop our Imagine Packs across physical (socially distanced) and digital spaces. If you have an idea for some creative content, know of a local group of elder or vulnerable people who would benefit from our Imagine packs, or want to partner with us, get in touch via info@culturemile.london
The Imagine Zine in our first issue is suitable for all ages and has been beautifully designed by Soofiya, with exercises around visual art, poetry, and music, all developed by Kit Finnie.
The zine was delivered direct to elder people alongside postcards designed by Soofiya, tea, biscuits, hot chocolate, coloured pens, festive craft items (like snowflake stencils) and cross-stitch packs.
Are you a carer or responsible for an elder loved one? Does your loved one like poetry, music or art? Or maybe you want to try an activity for yourself? We would love you to try out the Imagine Zine, or share it with a loved one.
You can send us pictures of your creations online via Instagram & Twitter at @CultureMileLDN or #CultureMile.
