Resis’Dance is an events collective made up of a diverse group of women, who take hold of the tech and decks whilst smashing the patriarchy and supporting under funded radical grassroots organisations. They came together to organise banging events but to also challenge gender norms in the party and political scene. They use their nights to fundraise for radical grassroots groups, which would struggle to get funding elsewhere. They also host safer spaces workshops & DJ workshops to continue to battle misogyny and harassment on the dance floor and in the club scene. Resis’Dance is committed to representing women, non-binary people and people of colour on line-ups at club nights and festival venues. They prioritise the voices of women of colour, working class women and trans women both in their collective and when planning our events. In Brief, Resisdance aims to; Raise money for grassroots political action, build political affinity on the dance floor with affiliated groups, take-up space for women & non-binary people & POC in a white, male dominated party scene, create safe, inclusive, anti-commercial party spaces!, carry forwards the dialogue for safer & accessible spaces at event nights, organise regular & accessible training, support venues that are at risk of & fighting against gentrification. Safer Spaces Policy: At Resis’Dance there’s a zero tolerance to harassment of any kind. Any unwanted touching, stalking and all forms of abuse or discrimination based on race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion, class, culture, or age will not be tolerated. People who can’t respect this aren’t welcome at Resis’Dance. If you experience it, or see someone else being harassed or on the receiving end of discriminatory abuse, find a member of the festival crew, Resis’Dance crew, or security – we believe and will support you.
