Smithfield Street Party: A Beastly Adventure

Smithfield Street Party

Welcome to the urban jungle: Smithfield Market was transformed into a beastly paradise on August Bank Holiday Sunday 2019, with a free summer party where  animals topped the bill.

All London’s animals – past, present or future, large and small, rare and familiar – made an appearance at an unmissable party full of music, circus performances, beastly workshops, games and play, joined by 10,000 human party animals in Smithfield’s wildest event of the year.

In 2019's take on Culture Mile’s annual festival, curated by the Museum of London, all London’s animals – past, present or future, large and small, rare and familiar – made an appearance at an unmissable party full of music, circus performances, beastly workshops, games and play, joined by 10,000 human party animals in Smithfield’s wildest event of the year.

Inspired by the original Bartholomew’s Fair and the Museum of London and Guildhall School of Music & Drama’s Beasts of London experience, Smithfield Street Party invited all of London’s families, including their four legged canine members, to come and take part in a day full of free beastly fun.

A host of activities for all ages animated the ancient streets throughout the day including marching bands, parades, history tours with the City Guides, fun fair rides, craft and zine-making workshops, meet the mini-beasts, storytelling, an animal tea party, and the Doghouse, a chill-out zone for our furriest friends.
