Nestled behind Smithfield market, a few minutes’ walk from Barbican and Farringdon tube stations, Smithfield Rotunda Garden is a rare spot of calm in the City. For five days, we’ll be transforming the garden into a creative space, with Joy & Peace forming the vibrant, colourful backdrop. Join us at lunchime and early evening for fun workshops, peaceful moments and live performances.

Poet for Hire & Peaceful Paper Origami
12 – 2pm
Enjoy performances from our award-winning poets every lunchtime, followed by a short crafting session where you can turn paper handouts into an origami peace crane or paper winkle (the Victorian name given to a garden).

Laughter Yoga Wellness
1 – 1.45pm and 5.15 – 6pm
Start your week with a short wellness session to boost your health and happiness, with stretching, laughter exercises, games, yogic breathing and more. Exercises are fun, easy for beginners and not strenuous. RSVP to CityPublicRealm@cityoflondon.gov.uk or first come first served on the day.
Get an introduction to swing dancing, from basic steps to more complex moves, with an energetic and accessible lesson from the Swing Patrol dancers.

The roving street theatre company present new show The Holiday Makers, arriving with a suitcase packed full of slapstick, mischievous gags and noisey props for their stay in the Rotunda Garden.

Bringing the emotional power of opera to unusual spaces, Opera Anywhere illuminate the Garden with opera arias, duets and songs on the theme of joy and peace.
Thu 24 Aug
Bollywood Brass Band
1 – 1.45pm and 5.30 – 6.15pm
Wielding saxophones, tabla, dhol drums and a colossal sousaphone, the Bollywood Brass Band perform everything from Hindi film hits and rioutous Indian wedding music to Punjabi beats. The band offer a uniquely London take on the world’s most popular music.

Gandini Juggling present ‘Director’s Cut’

Digging into their vast repertoire, Gandini Juggling perform a selection of their favourite pieces, each more hypnotic and breathtaking than the last.
Jally Kebba Susso
5.30 – 6.15pm
Blending elements of Jazz and Funk with the rich musical traditions of his West-African heritage, kora player Jally Kebba Susso gives an entrancing solo show.
