The 90 minute session gives secondary school students the chance to compare London’s Suffragette movement to the campaigns which followed it. The students handle real Suffragette ephemera and make conclusions on the Women’s Social and Political Union’s methodology, organisation and success. They then use iPads to gather information from the museum's World City gallery to explore campaigning in London’s later history.

Developing analytical skills the students are encouraged to think critically about the methods used by the Suffragette movement. They also apply their evaluation,team working and communication skills by researching later protests in the museum’s galleries.  

Teachers have said that the ‘hands-on critical thinking’ skills that students used during this session ‘increased their understanding of the range of methods used by Suffragettes and the justifications for militancy’ and ‘encouraged students to analyse sources’.
