Keats House is where the poet John Keats lived from 1818 to 1820, and the setting which inspired some of his most memorable poetry. Displays in the house relate to the life and times of John Keats and his fiancée Fanny Brawne, including letters written by Keats, and books in which he wrote some of his poetry.
Keats House provides a wonderful setting for school groups of all ages to explore the written and spoken word, art, history and the natural surroundings. There is a range of educational visits provided for ages 3-21, usually involving a tour and workshop with a focus on poetry study and creative writing.
There are also workshops on local history, citizenship, art, and a garden study sessions. The team at Keats House aims to educate young people about Keats’ life, work and legacy, develop young people’s creativity and critical abilities and support the curriculum objectives of participating schools.
