Galleywall Primary School

300 pupils from Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 classes at Galleywall Primary School took part in the project. During the workshop with artist Lauren Veevers the pupils enjoyed exploring different creative techniques and talking about their local area.

Following Lauren’s workshop, the teachers continued working with pupils on their artwork during both art classes and in local area studies. Pupils found it fun to look at places they pass by everyday on their way to school and think about how they might be able to represent these artistically. They were also really interested in the development of the area shown through the vast amount of archival photos provided as part of the project.

Galleywall are very proud of their heritage and the community that surrounds them and feel that this project has given them some really exciting resources to be able to use with future year groups and inspiration to develop their local area studies further.
