Epping Forest is an ancient forest landscape stretching 13 miles from urban Manor Park to Epping. It is London’s largest open space and home to 50,000 ancient trees, 100 ponds, deer, wildlife and a mosaic of habitats.

The Forest has provided a much valued recreation destination for Londoners for centuries, and has sites of historic interest ranging from Iron Age forts to a Tudor hunt standing and Victorian retreats. The Epping Forest Visitor Centre at Chingford provides a wide range of programmes designed to focus on the rich heritage of the forest while providing a cross-curricular approach. Sessions are based from The View visitor centre in a classroom and interactive exhibitions, next to the beautiful, centuries-old Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge.
